Re: dl360 g5 p400i SAS mirror "inconsistent stripe"

1)Server reset/lost power during write?

Not too my knowledge. Server is only a couple weeks old. I have always done a clean shutdown.

2)Are the same LBA ranges being reported?

Most ranges are different, last 2 times they were the same.

This Controller has no battery...so no write cache.

Warnings appeared after upgrading PSP/Firmware.

Have not rebooted in 8 days.

It was suggested to downgrade CISSERV. That was done on Sept 3. No Warnings occurred until Sep 8 and Sept 9 (single warning each day)

Re: dl360 g5 p400i SAS mirror "inconsistent stripe"

HP is sending a new controller out.

Any tips on the best steps to get the drives on the new controller?

--backup data
--Down server
--Remove power cords
--Antistatic myself
--open server
--remove orig controller
--install new controller

Now this is where I can use some pointers.

The Server will come up with an error about an unconfigured array/controller, correct?

I am assuming I should boot with SmartStart and get into the offline ACU.

The 2 146-gig SAS drives are mirrored...

What are the best steps to take in the ACU so I don't lose my current data and the drives get mirrored on new controller? Just nervous about having to rebuild the entire OS and Apps.

Re: dl360 g5 p400i SAS mirror "inconsistent stripe"

hi

so issue continued?????

best practice

- yes backup data
- power off server
-- Antistatic myself
- remove power cable
- take the old controller out
- insert the new controller
- reconnect controller cables
- plug server and done

Re: dl360 g5 p400i SAS mirror "inconsistent stripe"

yes, the issue is continuing despite the downgrade of CISSESRV service.

Last note from HP on my Case # is that they are sending out a new controller card.

"- plug server and done"

Is it that straight forward? New controller will mirror the drives without needing the ACU? No data loss?

Re: dl360 g5 p400i SAS mirror "inconsistent stripe"

yes

the RAID information is ketp in the HDHD RIS
RIS = Raid Information Sector

so you just replace controller and you're done.

in case you need to take your HDDs out put tham back in the same position

Re: dl360 g5 p400i SAS mirror "inconsistent stripe"

The new controller was put in early Friday morning with no problems and the old one shipped back to HP.

There have been no errors in the past 3 days. I need to wait a few more days since the old controller did go 5 days between warnings.

If it goes warning-free the rest of this week, that will be a pretty good sign that the problem is gone.

No warnings since the new controller card was installed.

Looks like that fixed it. We are running just fine now

Re: dl360 g5 p400i SAS mirror "inconsistent stripe"

What happened to all the replies to this thread? I was watchnig this as I have the same issue on 6 servers (out of 6 I might add) and there were comments upto 21st Jan 2009?

I have had the P400 replaced on 3 of my systems and I still get the errors but I guess any "inconsistant stripes" will still be there. Am I right in thinking that new card + 5.22 firmware and then rebuild the array to get rid of the erros is the way forward? Or will this still produce problems?
