dl360p g8 vs e5-1660 v2 [solved]

I have a dl360p that I was able to successfully run a single e5-1660 processor in with no issues.  I recently attempted to upgrade  to a single e5-1660 v2 but would boot up.  Systems Insight Display is amber for CPU 1 and the Health LED is flashing red.  I am running the latest bios (9/18/2013).  Not sure this is an officially supported chip but I really don't see why it wouldn't work.  Is it possible I have a bad chip?  Thanks.  -- Bud

Re: dl360p g8 vs e5-1660 v2

Hi,

E5-1660 this processor is not compatible with DL360p Gen8 server according to the specifications from HP.

If you are upgrading from E5-2660 to E5-2660 V2, then read this document.

Thank You!

If the second recommendation does not work or cannot be performed, then inspect the processor and the processor socket carefully for any bent/broken pins for physical damage.

If that is the case, then both the system board and the processor that is damaged needs to be replaced.
