Re: dl380 dual boot?

Hi,

One way to do it on a DL380 G1 model is to fit an additional disk or disks to the drive expansion bays below the CD-ROM (Non Hot-Plug)and attach them to a PCI based Adaptec controller like a 2940 or 29160.

Use this Adaptec controller and disks to build Redhat. It's probably best to keep the embedded raid controller disks disconnected at this stage.

If you enable the BIOS on the Adaptec controller via CTRL-A, it will boot Redhat, if you disable the BIOS on the Adaptec, the system will boot from the onboard raid controller.

I'm sure there will be many other variations but I have a similar configuration for booting Netware or NT4 on a Proliant 1600.

I hope this helps,

Brian
