dl380 g3 32 or 64 bit

Hi can someone give me some pointers as to how I can find out if my hp dl380 g3 server 2 x 2.8ghz prcrs is 32 or 64 bit at the moment there is no operating system on it,
so I cannot use linux commands or windows commands to check.
can I see this in the BIOS ?
as I would like to run vmware on it 3.5 if its 32 bit
esxi if its 64 bit

thanks Colin

Hi,

The DL380 G3 is 32bit only, if I am not mistaken.

You have to check exact version of your CPU, but as posted above this old stuff is 32bit for sure. You can try ESX 3.5, but check if it is supported - if you want have support from Vmware.

Re: dl380 g3 32 or 64 bit

Hi, I believe that x86_64 or EMT64 was only introduced in G4 models and upwards.

The best thing to do is to download the HP Product Bulletin program. This allows you to pull down detailed info about each model/generation of server right down to the CPU characteristics, etc. Retired models and products are normally depicted in 'red' folders.

This is dynamically kept up to date remotely by HP so is currently the best tool to give you a good breakdown on HP products.

please award points if you found this useful

hope that helps

regards

Matt
