dl380 g3 inplace upgrad windows server 2000 to windows server 2003 hangs

I have a proliant dl380 g3 domain controller with windows 2000 server with the latest hp support pack and the all microsoft service packs installed. I want to make an inplace migration to windows server 2003. The server holds all FSMO roles and is dhcp and wins server.
SQL-Server 2000 (DATEV) is installed.

winnt32.exe /checkupgradeonly hangs. install hangs with 51 minutes time.

Does someone know a solution?

Hi Susanne:

Is this the only DC in Active Directory? If not, have you done a DCPROMO?

If it is the only DC, I assume you'll have to build a replacement DC. I'm not aware of an in-place migration capability for the last DC in AD. Perhaps someone else has done this and will add their comments. Please indicate if you plan to install 32-bit or 64-bit W2K3.

1. I have two other dc's (file- and printserver and exchange 2000)
2. I tried to upgrade to the 32bit version.
3. I have used microsoft kb article for the update.
