Windows has a 4GB limit unless Address Windowing Extensions (AWE) or Physical Address Extensions (PAE) is invoked. See the following MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=283037

Which version of Windows 2003 are you using? Each edition has a maximum memory limitation as noted below. Please see the following MS article for a comparison of the various Windows 2003 versions...

Re: don't see all memory in windows 2003

You need ability use of extended memory in your system for this yo need edit the boot.ini file and in the end of your start line add "/pae" for use the extended memory.

yo can see this link for more information

Re: don't see all memory in windows 2003

My understanding from the first posting is the fact the PAE switch is being used "My boot.ini have the pae option". Unless it wasn't added at the right place or some other reason that isn't working, then it must be something else causing this.

Back to my original question: What version of the DL380 is this? The G1 has a hardware limitation of 4GB. The other servers can have the memory configured so it's using "online spare memory". So if you have 6 x 1 GB dimms installed, the third bank will not be available, since this is being used as the spare memory.
