dual processors

I can not find documentation on the processor settings switch for the 2nd processor on my proliant 3000, both are PII 333mhz.

Re: dual processors

As a rule they have to matched and have a VRM installed for each.

Normally the setting are on a sticker on side panel.

This may help.

System I/O Board (306596-001)
SW1 - Processor Speed Switch Settings
Pentium II (333 MHz)
1 ON
2 ON
3 OFF
4 OFF
5 ON
6 OFF
7 OFF
8 OFF

Alway remember: CAUTION: Setting the processor switchbanks incorrectly can result in permanent damage to the processor and/or data loss.

Good luck Shawn.

Re: dual processors

Thanks for the info, I have the switch set according and the 2nd processor is out of another proliant 3000 with the matching VRM. When I boot from the smartstart cd to setup the system both processor are deteched in the bios screen. I recieve an error message from the LCD stating that the 2nd processor in not installed correctly.

Re: dual processors

Please make sure the CPU with the lowest stepping is in slot #1.
If the error at POST is the 212 - cpu failure then please go into the F10 and mark it as repaired. These are usually false errors.
Also make sure your BIOS is up to par.

Re: dual processors

Mark,
I cant start either of my proliant 3000, the LCD will appear with bios info but the systems will not fire up, the case is on completely. Are there set profiles for the cpu, memory, card, harddrive before starting the system?
