enabling write back caching on DL380

I have an DL380 with a Smart Array 6i Controller 64MB. Firmware upgraded to v2.78. I have installed the BBWC module, but am still finding no improvement with write perfomance. ACU indicates caching set to 50%write and 50%read.

I have upgraded another DL380 with a Smart Array 6i with the BBWC modules and immediately noticed significant write performance.

Is there something i'm missing?

thanks,
-Mark

Re: enabling write back caching on DL380

Mark,
Try running HP ADU (Array Diagnostic Utility). This will tell you if anything is wrong with the controller, write-back cache module or if batteries are charged.
You can save report to floppy. Run this on both DL380's and compare. You can adjust your ratios, under controller settings (in ACU).

Re: enabling write back caching on DL380

i've compared the output from the ADU from both, and they are both reporting basically the same things. Percent Write Cache, Daughtgerboard size, cache battery count, total controller memory size, etc....

I can copy from this system and write to another one faster than i can copy and write to this same system. So its definately write performance related on this system.
