error when disabled on-board raid controller and scsi

Windows NT 4 reports system error on cpq32fs2.sys scsi driver:
Event ID 11: the driver detected a controller error
Event ID 4: driver detected an internal error in its data structures

The problem is fixed if the on-board scsi controllers. Is it possible to disable the on-board scsi controllers and on-board raid controller?
using SmartStart version 4.80

Re: error when disabled on-board raid controller and scsi

Please provide more information. You message is not very clear. Are you saying, you get the error message when you disable the integrated SCSI controller? You will as long as the cpq32fs2.sys driver is still be loaded by the OS in the system services. If you disable the integrated SCSI controller in the system BIOS using the Compaq system configuration program, you must also turn off the driver from loading in the OS using the services utility in the OS. You can run the system configuration program from the SmartStart CD.

Re: error when disabled on-board raid controller and scsi

Technet Q244984 describes an almost identical pair of errors: Microsoft's suggestion is that the later version of cpq32fs2.sys don't properly recognise the embedded SCSI controller. Their proposed workaround is to use the older symc810.sys driver. I've started a thread about this on the Proliant 5000|NT forum. You might like to try this.

On a related note, the System configuration very strongly advises AGAINST disables PCI devices (which include both the embedded SCSI controller and the embedded array controller) - and my limited experience with ignoring this warning is the blue-SOD later on!
