error when installing windows 2008 on DL380G5

Add a second processor to my DL380G5 The server now has two Intel Xeon E5430 identical. But when installing windows 2008 I get the following error: NOT SUPPORTED CONFIGURATION multiprocessor. I commented that when I install windows 2008 with a single processor no problem.

Did you check the BIOS to make sure it properly recognized/configured the 2nd cpu?

Can you install any other operating system on the box with the 2 cpu's installed?

Have you upgraded the firmware on the server?

Dear Steven,
Yes, I make sure that first. the bios recognized/configured properly on the 2nd processor.

Dear Johan,
The current bios is P56 from 08/03/2008 12am. Do I need to upgrade? Is there another more recent?

Dear Steven,
Yes, I make sure that first. the bios recognized/configured properly on the 2nd processor.

The server was installed ESX 3i VWware with a single processor. I installed the second processor and tried to install Windows 2008 standard 64bit, but failed. However, when reinstalled the VMware ESX 3i there were no problems, recognized the two processors.

Dear Johan,
The current bios is P56 from 08/03/2008 12am. Do I need to upgrade? Is there another more recent?

Re: error when installing windows 2008 on DL380G5

it might be a processor stepping issue, and yes there is more recent BIOS version.

my recommendations are:
1) update entire system by download, burn and boot from the following ISO file.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=5351&prodSeriesId=1121516&prodNameId=3288134&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-a69a789f6bfc4b0fbe2d84c7c6

...instead of burning you can make a bootable USB key...

2) clear nvram ( enter BIOS, advance options, clear nvram *** beware of data loss if you choose the incorrect option)

3) try again...

Re: error when installing windows 2008 on DL380G5

I updated the firmware and installed Windows 2008 R2 x64. Now I have another problem, after installing Hyper-V role, Windows aborts with blue screen. But if you disable the option "No-Execute Memory Protecction, Windows starts normally. Although Hyper-V will not work because requests to enable the "No-Execute Memory Protecction. Can you help?
