event id 1098 Drive Array Physical Drive Monitoring is not enabled

I got the below event log after replacing a defected harddisk of a ML350 G3 server.

Drive Array Physical Drive Monitoring is not enabled. The physical drive in slot Slot 1, port 2, bay 2 with serial number , does not have drive threshold monitoring enabled.

How to fix it? Any side-effect if it's not fixed?

Thanks!

Re: event id 1098 Drive Array Physical Drive Monitoring is not enabled

I would check for the replaced disk drive's firmware revision. It may require firmware update which would support "drive threshold monitoring"

The firmware version on the disk drive is important. You may want to run ADU to get more details.

Re: event id 1098 Drive Array Physical Drive Monitoring is not enabled

hi i reckon this is a seagate cheetah drive

make sure it has a hp sticker on it ,get the HP model nr
go to hp .com search for firmware with the model nr.update it

The model number you can get remotely by going in to Hp tools and the array diagnostic utility , and on to the array controller , and onto the physical disc a model number it has this type of format BF14684970 ,when here you can press control f to get a search box open , just type the word Model in there to help with the search

If it is not hp the agents may not report on this disk ,,
ensure you have the latest PSP cd installed

Goodluck...

Re: event id 1098 Drive Array Physical Drive Monitoring is not enabled

Thanks Sameer and Mark1234,

Sorry that I'm novice for HP system tools. I check the HP system management homepage and find the following information for the replaced HD

- HP system management homepage
- storage > Smart Array 5300 Controller in Slot 1
- port 2 drive2

status: 0k
Action: No Action Required
Capacity: 35003MB
Model: SEAGATE ST336607LC
Firmware version: 0006
Serial Number: 3J28EQL00007402D6V3
Service Hours: N/A
S.M.A.R.T Support: Available
Current Width: Wide (16 bits)
Current Speed: Ultra3
Placement: Internal
Rotational Speed: Unknown

I search the model no. and find the Firmware for another disk size, I'm not sure that apply to me new HDD or not.

"Firmware HPC4 for Seagate 18.2GB 10K RPM Ultra3 ST336607LC and ST336607LW drives"

Thank for your advice.
