failed dl580/g3 cpu

we have a dl580/g3, quad CPU (dual core each) with a failed processor (Intel Xeon 3.0ghz, 4mb L2)...

anybody know if i can use a xeon 3.3ghz from a dl380/g3 to replace the failed CPU?

Hey, on the dl380 g3 the cpu is only single core Xeons and the L2 cache on it (according to the quickspec) is 512kb.

I doubt that would work..

Do you have to run it with 2 CPUs now?

3 cpus are functioning ok.. the app it hosts is load-balanced across 4 servers (this being one of them) and the app isn't degraded b/c of this and nor does the server resources seem to be crippled ... we need the application until Nov this year so i am going to recommend we watch the application for issues and if none are noticed, we will ride it out until retirement in a few months..
