flash ROM update failure
Recently I've tried to update the flash ROM on a ML-370 G2 server.i didn't succeed ,receiving a "flash utility is locked - unable to update" message, when 1.there's no admin password set on ROM;2.The system board settings concerning the system lock are all OFF.
what could it be then?
Thanx

Re: flash ROM update failure
If you are update the system bios offline (using the diskette). You wil get similar message like what you are getting now.
It would say somthing like flash utility is locked.
If you then do a cold shut down and then turn it back on it should boot into the system bios diskette and flash with out that error message again.
If you are trying online (windows method)
I would suggest not to.
Good luck

Re: flash ROM update failure
the server recognizes the diskette as a compaq system diskette, boots from it. everything is ok until I get that message.
I do all the steps as written in the documentation...
Thankx

Re: flash ROM update failure
here is the system bios for your server (offline) using the diskette.
Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for ProLiant ML370 G2 (P25) Servers
version 4.07 P25-05/01/2004 (17 May 04
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/20882.html
If you have that try downloading again and use a different floppy this time.
Good luck should work.

Re: flash ROM update failure
At last I managed to do it.
It worked only after a complete power off. (Not just a shutdown as I've done before).
I didn't know that ROM remains on even after a (regular) shutdown...
