hangs when shutting down NT

on several NT 4.0 systems we have cases when restarting process hangs. Cases include PL1600 (File, Print), PL2500 (File, Print) and PL6000 (MS Exchange). The systems hang at the "Writing unsaved data to disk" message. What could be wrong.
We use Compaq SSD and Insight Agents.

Are they using a specific controller? What version of the SSD? What firmware?

No specific controller. Range from SMART f/w 1.26 to SMART-2DH f/w 4.26. SSD v.? SMD 3.27.01.
