hardisk issue

Hi all,
I am currently setting up a server HP ProLiant ML350 G6 Server. I have 3x146GB. The total size is 438GB and all those hard disk is online.
But when I am installing the server OS, the total HD size is around 279GB which is less than the actual size.
Why this scenario can happen? Somebody please advice me on this.

Thanks and have a nice day :)

Re: hardisk issue

You have probably createt a RAID 5.

If you got a later model Smart Array controller, it will create the RAID for you, if you do not intervene.
Having 3 disks it will create a RAID 5.

The way disk capacity is calculatet, is not very accurate, harware vendors and OS vendors don't calculate in the same way.

Also a littel space is used for the RIS area.
