how many fans should a DL380G5 have ?

Hello all...

question: we just purchased 10 of the DL380G5 servers ( 3 ghz dual core )... They are supposed to be fully redundant "performance" models. I only see 6 internal cooling fans , but there are places for 6 more?? Please advise on this if you can...

thanks

This server on launch had 12 fans, but the design changed and now only have 6. The 6 fans is standard and redundant.

hi

the most recent DL380 G5 models are 6 fans the main idea is to help data center efficiency you know less watts, don't worry about airflow the chassis because this new design work great with the 6 fans (it was implemented a new design with the 6 fans model) so it is the same redundancy

see

However, the Integrity brother of this box (rx2660) still has 12 fans and can run even with 3 failed under certain circumstances).

Hope this helps!

Torsten.
