hp doesn't sell hard drive trays!!!

I recently purchased a ml310 g3 with non hotswapable sata drives, I have 2 250gb sata western digital hard drives at home and learned today that I can't install the drives because hp has set it up so you need the hard drive tray that only thier harddrives come in. Does any one know why this is, is hp just trying to be a monopoly, does anyone know where I can get a couple trays, or does hp actually have a good reason for my frustration. Thanks

Re: hp doesn't sell hard drive trays!!!

Even if you get mentioned trays - HP HDDs are custom-built & have specific firmware on them.

Hence high probability of any kind of issues when connecting non-HP drives to a HP server (discussed recently in some other topics here).

Along you buy proprietary hardware - you receive guaranteed support that will include: maintenance, assistance and updates (that include firmware for HDD, driver, agents that can report problem).
All tests, diagnostics and performance is based on the hardware that sold by company and guaranteed with compatibility.

Did you check eBay?

I have purchased earlier drive trays from them.

Good Luck.
