hp ml150 g6

Greetings all,

I purchased an ml150 g6 with 2gb of Ram and I'd like to add another 2gb. My question is do I need to use an identical HP memory module or can I use a Kingston equivalent? I tried with a Kingston equivalent to place it in the matched slot and the server will start but the bios only recognized 2gb of ram. If I placed it in any other slots I got a tone sequence and nothing. Both the original and the Kingston work fine alone but I can't seem to make them work together. Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks
Regards
Dillyn

Re: hp ml150 g6

Go to the hp memory configuration tool and enter your server details and check if you loaded the memory correctly

Verify that the Kingston is the correct equivalent. The server takes 800 and 1033 memory and there are other parameters that may not match. Look in the quickspecs of the server and look in the second memory section in the "Standard Features" section, not the "At a Glance" section. http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13249_div/13249_div.html
