One of our servers, a Proliant dL360 G6 was running windows server 2012. It was no longer being used so I downloaded Windows Server2016 and upgraded it to WS 2016. It was working fine and I decided to make it a domain controller(it was formerly a domain controller in WS 2012). An outside IT technician had problems configuring a DNS service and told me to do a clean install of Windows Server 2016. When I did the clean install - wipe old partition etc - the install crashed(after the copy files step) without any message or reason and rebooted. I tried the clean install again several times but every time I run it the install crashes and loops back to rebooting - doesn't matter if the install media is still loaded or removed. Does anyone have any idea why the server would allow an upgrade from WS2012 to W2016 without problems but continually crashes when doing a clean install of WS2016? I'm using the same WS install media as I used to do the upgrade. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

SolutionHi Macscotia ,
According to your updates , I understand that you are trying to install Windows 2016 server in DL380 G6 Server and it crashes .
Please note that Windows 2016 is not compatible with DL380 G6 .Kindly refer the following link to see the compatible Windows versions ;
https://techlibrary.hpe.com/us/en/enterprise/servers/supportmatrix/windows_archived.aspx
Windows 2016 version is not certified with DL380 G6 servers .So it may or may not work.
Recommendation is to install a supported OS image and verify the server functionality .
