i cant update FW on HDD DG146A4960 and MM0500FBFVQ on Proliant G7 DL380

After update FW for Smart Array -ver FW 6.64 (B)(1 Oct 2015)

DG146A4960 (minimum version = HPDB )

MM0500FBFVQ (minimum version = HPD3 )

and I did it, supposedly successfully, BUT

after upd FW for this HDDs - nothing changed and the error - same -(

For other models HDD - no problem - fw upd works fine,

This problem i see on many servers Proliant G7 DL380 in my company,

And I tried different ways to upgrade this HDDs (Online from ESXi-5.0, from Service Pack Proliant, from Windows OS) - nothing changed and the error - same -(

Pliz Help ) and critical or not this POST message?

For online updates you need a cache module installed, otherwise do the update offline.

This is HPDB (D) - this usually means they fixed the loader for firmware from (A) to now (D).

Did you use this version?

What is the firmware of the drive?

Hi,

I do have the same issue with my SAS HP DG146A4960 HDD currently with Firmware HPDA.

the problem is, I do not have physical access to the server as it is hosted in a friends server rack at his companies data center. I've read there is a online solution to update the firmware.

My Server is running on Windows Server 2012 R2 with a Smart Array P410i with firmware 6.60 and a battery present.

What I did is:

1. I've downloaded the Service Pack for ProLiant version 2018.03.0 ISO as suggested above
2. I've mounted the ISO as a "DVD"
3. I've run "launch_sum.bat"
4. I've added as baseline "E:\packages" in SUM v8.2.0
5. But searching under "components" I can't see anything related to my drive "DG146A4960"
6. So I've downloaded the .sexec from the following link

   2. I see, these downloads are for Linux enviornment, which I do not have
7. being not a certified HP consumer, I thought, well, I copy .scexe and .md5 files to a local server directory like C:\packages and add this new directory as a baseline
8. SUM 8.2.0 does find the files and recognizes name, type, version correctly, but it states as well "Component not signed"
9. now I am stuck as well

So, how can I upgrade the firmware online on a Windows Server 2012 R2 environment? How can I get this .scexe files signed?
