iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
Hello All,
I am having problems with several of my servers holding on to iLO sessions. I am running iLO 3 with firmware 1.28 (which is current on the HP iLO site).
What is happening is if there is a communication issue and the session drops, the next time the user goes in, it may not connect to their previous session. I currently have one server with 2 hung sessions and one server where the iLO has stopped responding to browser requests. (Had shown 4 hung sessions last week.)
Besides pulling all power on the servers (as these are several continents away), how else can the session s be cleared?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
There are a couple of ways to reset iLO without pulling server power (as long as you can still access the iLO)
if you can still access the browser interface, under the diagnostics tab there is a button to reset iLO.
You can also SSH to iLO and run the follwoing command at the iLO prompt
reset /map1

Re: iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
Jimmy,
Thank you for the information. It did work for the servers that I could still browse to. I still have one that is not responding to port 80 or 22, but I can ping the IP. (I do know this is an iLO because only iLOs connected to VLAN.)
Is there any option through Redhat Linux (5.8) to perform the same item?
Thank you for the follow up.

Re: iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
Also,
Using VLAN means that you are using iLO shared network port. Can you please tell us what server model is this?

Re: iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
Hi Aftab,
I have been trying that. This is 64-bit Linux, the HPONCFG utility is 32-bit. I have been unable to find the libcpq.so.2 library file for HPONCFG. The HP insight driver is 64-bit and has the libcpq64.so.3 library. (Doing this from memory as I am not in the office right now.)
Thanks for the help.

Re: iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
Hi Oscar,
This is a DL580. To update everyone, we were able to shut down the server and pull the power for 5 minutes. When we replaced the power cords, we still had the same problem. The iLO3 is still not responding to port 80. I can ping the IP address.
The server was restarted (manual power button) and is running again.
I am a little lost as to why this did not clear the sessions. I am running under the assumption I am not a victim of an iLO going bad while I was traveling back from doing the installation.
Thank you for all the suggestions.

Re: iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
Hi,
You may login to www.hp.com/support/ilo3
Select the Operating System as Linux 64 bit and download the utility. Select HP Lights-Out Online Configuration Utility for Linux and download
Please check the installation instruction
Prerequisites:
This utility requires the following minimum firmware revisions:
- Integrated Lights-Out 2 firmware v1.00 or later
- Integrated Lights-Out 3 firmware v1.00 or later
- Integrated Lights-Out 4 firmware v1.00 or later
The management interface driver and management agents must be installed on the server.
Hope this helps,
How to Say Thank You? Just click the KUDOS Star! .....
Cheers,
Aftab

Re: iLO 3 and hung Active Sessions
Hi Oscar,
Tried ipmitool. Did not work. Can ping but not open it through the browser.
I am trying to fix my hponcfg issue and will try reseting it that way.
Thanks for the help.
