iSCSI on DL360

Hello folks,

I just bought a new DL360G4p.
I need to know whether iSCSI is supported by default on it or do I need to buy an extra PCI card ?

Thanks for your help.

regards.

Re: iSCSI on DL360

iSCSI by definition will work on any bog standard NIC. All you need is to install a software iSCSI initiator (e.g. MS one - free of charge)

That's one part of the story. Here is the second one:
iSCSI protocol requires some CPU power to do the calculation, hence impacts a performance. In most real life scenarios, however, CPU has not much to do anyway, so that's not an issue.

If you feel you will be CPU-constrained, then use iSCSI off-load card:
HP NC370T PCI-X Multifunction 1000T Gigabit Server Adapter
374191-B22

But again - it's all about a performance, not whether it will work, or not.

Rgds.
