ibm server
Just wanted to know if i change the scsi drive in a ibm eServer with an ibm scsi, do i need to install controller software. there is onboard controllers connections marked scsia and scsib.

Not necessarily the right forum for this question, but thinking back to my IBM days...
IBM Servers had/have a ServeRAID card, much like the Smart Array Controller in that it is a RAID card.
If you are putting in a ServeRAID card, then you most certainly need to install drivers for the controller. There is also software, like HP ACU to configure your drives. ServeRAID Manager I think it was/is.
Generally speaking, IBM servers did not come with a builtin RAID card. not sure what the deal is today. Without knowing your model though there is no way to look anything up...

The model# is 5tx. I'm working with an eServer xSeries 232 server.
