info su DL160 e controller P410

Buonasera a tutti,
devo ordinare questo server, si tratta di questo modello 490454-421

Sto cercando disperatamente ovunque, anche sul supporto HP, qualcuno che mi dica che P410 monta questo server. Mi sono informato anche sulle caratteristiche del controller e ho trovato che il P410 supporta:

RAID 1/0 o 10 senza cache
RAID 1/0/5 o 10/50 con 256Mb di cache
RAID 1/0/5/6 o 10/50/60 con un minimo di 256Mb di cache, BBWC e SAAP

Detto questo, sul sito HP trovo che il DL160 indicato monta il P410 e supporta RAID 1/0/5, quindi dico "bene, ha 256Mb di cache", il sito del fornitore me lo conferma. Faccio così, una prova su un altro fornitore e leggo invece RAID 1/0 e 10. Chiedo sul supporto HP in chat e non mi hanno saputo rispondere. ePrice dice che non ha memoria cache mentre Misco dice che ha 256Mb.

Siccome sto per ordinare qualcosa come 6000€ di server, vorrei sapere se c'è qualcuno che può risolvere questo mio dilemma. Ovviamente per me è FONDAMENTALE che abbia 256Mb di cache anche perchè vorrei aggiungerci il modulo BBWC a questo controller :-)

The DL160 G6 (not the DL160se G6) supports the P410 controller.

The P410 is an add-on to this server and uses one of the two PCIe slots.

You can buy the P410 with any option you want. You can have 0MB/256MB/512MB cache and also you can include the BBWC or not.

Which options you buy depends on what perfromance you expect from the server.

The memory cache option helps with the i/o performance of the P410. The BBWC allows you to set up write cache and also allows you to perform online functions such as capacity expansion, raid migration etc.

I suggest, yes, to buy 256MB cache (or 512MB if your budget allows) and include the BBWC option. If you need to do RAID6 or raid6+0 you need the SAAP option.

This 490454-421 product number have alredy installed a P410 Smart Array Controller, but I want to know wich model it is. I have searched on internet any information about this, but I have found only a mismatched informations. I need to know the CORRECT information. It is a P410 with 256Mb or without memory cache? Can I mount a BBWC cache with this pre-mounted controller? For me is a precious information.

It clearly mentions

Storage controller P410 Smart Array SAS/SATA RAID 0,1,10, 5

Raid5 meand the controller MUST have 256MB. No mention of RAID6 so NO BBWC.

If you looked on the P410 quick specs in my previous reply, you will see that there are 3 upgrade options
1. BBWC (for the 256MB models)
2. 512MB and BBWC
3. SAAP

Also if I am going to give somebody 6.000 euros for this server I would expect that they should have that detailed information and any other information that I need.

Sorry, but your previous information is not the answer that I expected :)

I think exactly what you've written. If this mentioned controller support RAID 0/1/10 and 5, it MUST to have 256Mb of cache memory. I have written here because HP standard support cannot say to me the correct information about this controller and my reseller say to me "contact HP" :-(

That's unacceptable. The reseller needs to contact HP and get the answer. Otherwise you find another reseller.
