install RH8.0 on ML570 G2, smart array 642 driver problem
hi, i need to install RH8.0 into ML570 G2 server. I downloaded the smart array 642 driver and made it into the 3.5 diskette as what hp instruct.
When i boot the RH8.0 cd 1, and at the boot prompt, i type linux updates dd.
After that it ask me to insert the driver disk. I inserted and it complaint that no driver found....
Anyone faces this problem, or anyone successfully installed linux RH8.0 onto ML570 G2 server with smart array 642?
please help!

Re: install RH8.0 on ML570 G2, smart array 642 driver problem
Howdy,
Most probably you have the smart array driver for a different version of Red Hat Linux.
I thought that Red Hat Linux 8.0 had the driver for the smart array already built in.
Have you tried to generate a driver disk from the Red Hat Linux diskette images?
Browse the "images" directory in your Red Hat Linux CD-1. Generate a floppy with the drvblock.img image file (either using dd on Linux or rawrite.exe on Windows/DOS). And use this floppy as your driver's floppy.
Hope this help.

Re: install RH8.0 on ML570 G2, smart array 642 driver problem
Did not see a Linux driver on HP's website for a 6xxx array controller. Win2k driver was just posted April 11. Try using the driver from the cd that ships with the sa642.
