install second cpu on proliant ML 370 pentium 3
Hi,
i just bought two cpu P3 933 to upgrade my server proliant wich was equiped by one CPU P3 733.
When i place one cpu, it works, but when i place the second one, the server don't boot...
Do you know if there is a switch or a jumper to change make the computer recognize the second cpu??

Re: install second cpu on proliant ML 370 pentium 3
What is the generation of the server ?
What is the system Bios installed ?
Check the compatibility of the procs with the server, i.e check quickspecs
Go to Google.com and type "ML370 G3 quickspecs" if its a G3 Server..
Keep us updated ..
All d best

Re: install second cpu on proliant ML 370 pentium 3
Hi,
I assume that you also bought the second Processor Power Module (PPM) as well as it won't work without it.
Things to try:-
Try each 933Mhz CPU in the CPU1 slot to see if the server works OK (Proving the existing PPM and both processors are good). Replace the original PPM with the other one and check the same again.
See the attached document for 933Mhz switch settings on the ML370 G1.
I hope this helps.
Brian

Re: install second cpu on proliant ML 370 pentium 3
Hi, swap both CPUs in slot one. Also swap PPMs in slot 1, Make sure CPUs and PPMs have the same HP PART NUMBER. Then try upgradng the BIOS in the server and retry. It would be of help if you can let us know what server model you have.
Thanks.
Thanks.
