installing Netware 6.5 on new Proliant ML 110

I just received my 10 servers and am trying to install Netware 6.5. Boot from CD, start the install, it loads the CD driver and it gets to the point of loading up and goes into a loop. I can't catch the error message as it goes by too fast, but it looks like one of the Netware memory dump type error.

I have installed 6.5 on a TC2120 (before they discontinued them) with less RAM and smaller disk with no problems. I've now tried to install it on 3 of these Proliants all with the same result.... help!

Re: installing Netware 6.5 on new Proliant ML 110

Thanks John. Wish it were that simple. Doing exactly the steps stated in the manual, I get almost to the point where it should be asking me for the language, and it goes into this loop. The only message I can catch has to do with Netware trying to load the diagnostics. Wish I knew what those diagnostics try to test.

I'm on hold with HP tech support now. Hoping they have an answer. I waited so long for these servers!

Well... HP tech support is award winning, so I hope they can solve this for you.

It could be that the diagnostics step you see is the hardware probe.
Have you tried using diferent CD media to build the O/S from?
Enjoy!

Re: installing Netware 6.5 on new Proliant ML 110

I'm not sure what you mean by different media. I built the CDs from the Novell electronic download and it worked fine on the tc2120. And besides it's already booted from the CD and started the install process, so I can't see it having a problem with the CD drive at this point. I'm wondering if hyperthreading would cause a problem (though I can't see how). BTW I updated the BIOS as instructed with no problems so I'm using the latest. I've even beefed up the RAM to 1GB to make sure that wasn't a problem. I'm just out of ideas (and now explaining it to the 3rd tech at support.) Ever have one of those days?!

Just wanted to thank you John. For a lark I decided to boot the system with the Netware 6.5 SP2 CD and try to install from that one and glory be! It works! Now I have to work tomorrow, oh well.
