integrated smart array controller

I am installing Microsoft TSE on a dl580 with 2.5 gig of memory
and 4 700mhz proceesors, with a internal smart array controller
when I use the ssd for nt version 2.18A off of 4.80 smart start,
I have tried to use the array controller for windows nt, but it says there is no card. when I use the integrated smart array for 42xx and 43xx the driver loads and then says there is no hard drive.
is there a special driver for this board? this is the first time I have worked with it.
thanks

Re: integrated smart array controller

In order to install NT on a system with a current Compaq Array controller, you need to create the 3 NT install disks from the NT CD. Use the "WINNT /OX" command to do this. Then, when the Smartstart manual install is done, boot from those disks - without the NT CD in the drive until asked. Choose "custom" for the install mode (F6 key) and skip detection on mass storage. Specify an unlisted controller and use the Compaq NT 4.0 SSD for the drivers (in this case, the "Integrated" driver). Then specify a secondary controller and use the NT "IDE/Atapi" driver. You can also use the SSD for the NIC drivers (also likely to be out of date in NT).
