How do I recover a lost ILO password?

Flip over top cover or side panel and see switch for ILO override Security and after log in without credentials â make changes and set switch back

Thanks. I was able to login to the ILO by turning the ILO- bypass switch on but once I get into the menu. I am not able reset Admin password. I recieve a error message.

I was able to turn on dip SW1 SW5 SW6 to reset the ILO password.

Hi Dave,

Try this!!!!!

To reset Administrator Password on iLO:

1. Ensure that SNMP is installed because it was a prerequisite for HP Insight Management Agents.
2. Ensure that HP Insight Management Agents are installed.

Unzip the attached Riloreset.zip file to folder c:\hp\ilo.

Extract the file Administrator_reset_pw.xml from c:\hp\ilo\Hponcfg.zip to the c:\hp\ilo folder.

Edit the file with the username you would like to reset and also edit the PASSWORD value="newpass123456" to the new password.

Than go to command prompt to folder c:\hp\ilo and run the following command:
HPONCFG.exe /f Administrator_reset_pw.xml /l log.txt > output.txt

We don't require the old password to reset the account.

My server is at remote site. I do not have physical access to server. How can i reset the ILO password for default users. Can I do it using CPQLOCFG command?? Server should not be rebooted.

Hi Amol-IndiaPP,

Has suggested by Ramesh Naik, download and save the file on the remote server(locally) and run the file on the server(locally) it will reset the password.

If you have old username and passowrd than you could run the CPQLOCFG command.

Both the commands does not require the server to be restarted.
