Re: ml 150 g6 not booting when on dual power supply

Hi,
ML150 G6 usually ships with one power supply and second power supply needs to be purchased separately.
There are two type of power supplies available for this server and identical power supply should be used in each slot.
SPS-POWER SUPPLY, 460 W - 519742-001
SPS-POWER SUPPLY, 750 W - 511778-001

Kindly verify the part number of power supplies installed in your servers.

Re: ml 150 g6 not booting when on dual power supply

We have fitted the 2 750w power supplies.

once they boot up on one power supply i can then connect second and work fine perfectly well until a reboot

thanks

Re: ml 150 g6 not booting when on dual power supply

It should be something related to power management.
Try changing the Power Management setting in the ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU) by performing the following:

1. Reboot the server and press F9 to enter RBSU.
2. Select "Power Management Options."
3. Select "Advanced Power Management Options."
4. Select "Minimum Processor Idle Power State."
5. Select "C1E" or "No C-States."

Re: ml 150 g6 not booting when on dual power supply

thanks

to get into RBSU on this ml150 you need to press f10 and within this there are no advanced power options

those instructions sound like they may work on the ml310's

many thanks

Hi Simon,
Thanks for correction.
But this issue should be related to power management. Isn't it?

Re: ml 150 g6 not booting when on dual power supply

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, i installed two 750w Power Supply hot plug unit, in the power supply redundant adapter.

One module is connected with the electric line the other with the UPS.

The UPS shutdown the server when secondary power (batteries) fed the server for more then 5 min.

When the server has been shutdown by the UPS and so in power off state, when the electric power get back, pushing the On/stand-by/off button (that is in yellow state) the server do not start at all..

I have to unplug both power cable from the two redundant power unit for 5-10 seconds until the server is completely off-line.

After that replugging the cables the server let himself start the boot process.

From the previous post it's not clear how to solve the problem..
@simon, do you finally solved the problem ?

Re: ml 150 g6 not booting when on dual power supply

marco, this issue is still outstanding with us.

just before christmas hp decided to send out an engineer who spent 2 days going over everything i had tried. he replaced almost every part of the server but the issue still remained.

hp have now taken the server away to look at it at there own site to find a resolution.

sorry i cant be of more help marco
