I have a first-generation Proliant ML350 that is non-hotplug. We're opening a second office and only one office is going to open at a given time so we figured using a hot-pluggable hard drive to transfer our data back and forth from each office is the best way to go. I'm assuming I'll need to purchase a hotplug drive cage as well as new hotswappable drives. Is there anything else I need to consider/purchase? The server is currently equipped with a LC2 RAID card as well as the Ultra2 controller that came with it.

Solution
You will need to add the PL ML350 Hot plug drive expansion cage (pn 161275-B21). There should already be a SCSI cable inside the server, however, the Hot Plug cage option kit does come with a non-terminated cable. The HP cage is self-terminated, so DON'T use a terminated SCSI cable with it.
The SMART Array LC2 will do fine with this cage. Of course, you will also need Universal Hot Plug HDDs as well.
The cage holds up to 4 disks. Hope this helps...
