Re: ml350 g5 beeps

Hi,

Before we proceed with removing components, do go through the below links:

Important Safety Information Before Servicing the Server
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03328588

Memory (DIMM) and Processor (CPU) Handling or Removing Guidelines
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03207146

Minimum Hardware Configuration for Troubleshooting
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03212774

If you installed any new Hardware then remove them and boot the server.

Remove any external USB devices, Tape or Storage devices and try.

If still problem occurrs then open the chassis and remove additional DIMM's and PCI Cards.

Take the server to minimum configuration.

> If the system boots and video is working, add each component back to the server one at a time, restarting the server after each component is added to determine if that component is the cause of the problem. When adding each component back to the server, be sure to disconnect power to the server and follow the guidelines and cautionary information in the server documentation.

> If the system fails in this minimum configuration, one of the primary components has failed.

Thank You!

Re: ml350 g5 beeps

ok, so i removed everything and the memory lighst where still ambered colored. I had to put all the dims in to get rith of the amber leds. Seems like the server needs its memory.
After putting everything back in place, the server works again...

strange.

Re: ml350 g5 beeps

Hmm wellicht even een firmware upgrade doen van de hele zut met zo'n HP cd?
I mean, to prevent this from happening in the future it might be a good idea to update the firmware of all components.
You can do this with a firmware CD you can download from the HP website.

Re: ml350 g5 beeps

did the firmware update 4 months ago and i dont think hp released new drivers for this server. on the other hand, it cannot do any harm , rerunning the firmware update check.

Re: ml350 g5 beeps

Do you know the pattern of the beeps you hear coming from the server?

Something like for example 3 long beeps?

Also for the amber LED on the server inside, try looking at the cover of the server. There should be a diagram with the different components inside the server and also the lights.

It will be nice if  you can add a picture showing where is the light is located on the system board.
