i have been onsite to troubleshoot a ml570 g4. the client is trying to upgrade the firmware and diagnostices must be run first. the hp diag utility hangs at 99% of memeory address test and server has to be rebooted. it has 8g of ram and there are no leds showing faulty memory. i swapped both mem boards and still same failure during diags......can the firware upgrade still be done... or should the sys board be replaced first?

Solution
Hello Neil,
I will suggest booting from the firmware Maintenance CD 7.9; Once that done, check if the Diags will complete; Also, until 99%...was there any errors reported ? If this fails, Try another(completely different) set of memories(if available); If still no joy, replace system board. & diags again !
Regards.

Re: ml570
I would also recommend minimum configuration - I mean try with less DIMMs to see if problem still occurs.
Also check if all the dimms are the same.
