modprobe & nics

Hello all,

I have a SUSE Enterprise server version 10u2.
It runs on a HP ProLiant BL460c Server with Flex10.

After the initial installation the server was unable to detect the Flex10 nics.
I installed the HP bnx2x drivers and now I am able to use them.

The problem is that after a reboot I need to run the command modprobe bnx2x in order to see the nics again.

Trying to add `alias eth0 bnx2x` in modprobe.conf or modprobe.conf.local
is not working.

The following is the result of running modprobe –v bnx2x:
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.16.60-0.42.4-smp/kernel/lib/libcrc32.ko
insmod /lib/modules/2.6.16.60-0.42.4-smp/updates/bnx2x.ko

Thanks in advance,
Ron.

Re: modprobe & nics

Can you attach your dmesg?

Hi,

Attached is a dmesg file after manually running modprob bnx2x.

Re: modprobe & nics

Hello all,

Since the modprobe.conf and modprobe.conf.local did not worked,
I have tried the SuSE boot.local file.
I have added the modprobe bnx2x command to it and now I can see the nics after a reboot.

HP support confirmed my solution.

Regards,
Ron.
