nc7782 and Jumbo Frames

We are trying to set the "maximum frame size" on the embedded nic on the DL580 G3. We are using PSP 7.6 drivers and NCU and the OS is W2K3X64. We do not see this setting under "advanced properties" and haven't been able to find the reason. Another Dl580 G3 that is running W2K3 does have that setting.
Any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Re: nc7782 and Jumbo Frames

Are both DL580 G3 using the same version of PSP (7.6) and NCU?

You can try updating to the latest version of NCU:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/27822.html

If that does not help update NIC drivers.

And a little off topic:
under advanced properties - disable the TCP Offload Engine Option, this option can cause performance problems.screenshot is attached

Re: nc7782 and Jumbo Frames

they are using the same versions ... the only difference is the 32bit and 64bit OS. The setting is not enabled. I can not update the drivers and ncu at this time. There are other servers (BL20p G4)running the 64bit OS that this setting is available.

Re: nc7782 and Jumbo Frames

Maximum frame size (jumbo frames)
HP ProLiant Network Adapter Teaming supports the advanced feature Maximum Frame Size (Jumbo Frames)
when supported by all teamed ports in the same team. This feature allows teamed ports to increase maximum frame size for TCP/IP packets transmitted and received in order to improve performance. If all teamed ports in the same team support jumbo frames, the feature is promoted to the team├Г┬в├В ├В s Advanced Settings tab with the lowest size configured for the team members.

So have both servers exact same NICs (NIC ports)?

Re: nc7782 and Jumbo Frames

there are two embedded nc7782 on this server. We don't use teaming. The driver is 2.8.15.0 with the ncu of 8.4. On the 32bit W2K3 the versions are the same but that setting is there. On the 64bit version we do not have that setting.

Re: nc7782 and Jumbo Frames

hi

I know it is a online server but the recommendations I'm going to tell you maybe someone else already did it

- try first update the firmware for the card
- Driver
- NCU

Re: nc7782 and Jumbo Frames

today we received permission to update the drivers and ncu on the server. We went to the PSP7.9 versions as the 7.7 versions had the same issue. With 7.9 all is well.

Thanks

Re: nc7782 and Jumbo Frames
