new DL360G4 will not boot up

Brand new server. When I turned it on I got the following error:
'Unsupported Processor Detected.'
'System will ONLY boot from ROMPAQ Utility'
'102 - System board failure - Timer Test Failed.'
Will not boot from cd or floppy. This server is right out of the box! The processors initialize fine @ 3.40Ghz/800Mhz (1Mbyte L2).
Anybody ever see this before?
Thanks!
Kelly

Kelly:

102 errors are usually fatal/un-recoverable. You likely have a server that was damaged by shipping in some way. (I would not tell HP that, they will make you file a claim with the shipper and that will take forever) You should contact HP immediately and have them cross ship a new server as this one is DOA.

I am sorry to the bringer of bad news.

G'luck! -john
Enjoy!

Re: new DL360G4 will not boot up

Thanks John! I was going to say "stuff happens", but just found out the person who actually took it out of the box is the person who installed the processors! Guess I spoke too soon. I'm sure there is a jumper somewhere I've got to find now! Sorry to have wasted any of your time John.

Thanks again,
Kelly

Re: new DL360G4 will not boot up

If the installer bent processor pins... I can understand this error. You can pull the processors from their sockets and look at the pins. If they are bent... ouch. If not, you still should contact HP and get warranty service.

Do not go looking for a "jumper" or "switch" setting on the server M/B... there are none dealing with processors.

The processors are detected automatically.
