online raid expansion

hi all,

i hav a dl 380 g3 server with three physical disks (each raid0). is there a possibility to expand the raid from 0 to 1?

Hot add new disk
open acu

expand array
- Add new disk to exsisting array
Migrate Raid level
save changes

In a few hours you've got a RAID 1

Do that 3 times


Note, it is allways a good idea to ensure, that you've got a good backup and recovery plan

ok good, i have already added a new disk to an array. now i have two logical disks in my array, but where can i say "migrate raid level"? when i click on the logical disk i can only choose "change Raid/Stripe Size", "Delete" or "More Information". i work with acu 8.35.7.0

Let me understand you're qustion correct.

You got 3 physical disks ?,
before adding more disk ?

You say you've got 2 logical drives

Can you attatch a screen shot from ACU?

my server runs with three arrays and each array has 1 logical disc which is one physical. and i want to add a second disc to each logical disc so i can migrate to raid1.

i have made a screenshot for understanding. the disc which is marked is the one i have added to the Array A

Let's begin with array A

First you select array A, and choose expand.
Select one of the new disks
Once you have added a disk to the array.
You can select save changes.
When it has finshed the expansion (takes some hours). You select the logical drive and select RAID level migration.
This also take hours.
Or you kan continue with migrate before saving the changes, this will save you som hours.

Do not create a new logical drive!!
(You did that, didn't you?)

Then continue with Array B and C.

aaaaah, thank you! now it works. i selected the wrong disc. i have to select the old volume from the array and say raid 1, i always selected the new and there i only can create a new logical drive.
