please help - DL380 memory upgraded to 8gb but windows server only reports 3.25gb

Hi, I am really stuck on this and hoping an expert out there can help. I have 4 or 5 DL380 G5 servers and a couple other comprable HP servers. I added 4 - 1GB RAM modules to each of the servers, and the bios reports the correct amount of RAM. But no matter what version of windows 2003 server I load, Windows only reports 3.25gb RAM. Is there a software patch or bios setting to make windows pick up the extra ram?

I've been stuck on this a while, and am frustrated at this point. I have spent thousands of dollars of RAM upgrading the servers, but can't seem to get any of them to show it in windows server. Thanks.

You need to enable PAE on Windows BOOT.INI, so Windows uses 36 bits for memory addresses and not 32.

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/platform/server/PAE/PAEdrv.mspx

Also, the Windows version you are using must support more than 4 GB of RAM.

hi

check this customer advisory, you need to enable PAE (windows issue)
