problem NIC DL140 G3 on Windows 2003
We have a problem, when install DL140 in Windows 2003, the NIC (Broadcom 5721) is not reconized by the system.
All the drivers present on SmartStart CD are not accepted by Windows 2003 R2 (I upgrade in SP2).
When I install the driver (present in the broadcom web site) the system add this driver, but I obtain a code error 39 Windows cannot charged this driver.
I downloaded the last version on the web site Broadcom, but the problem persist.
Would somebody have an idea please ?
Bye

Re: problem NIC DL140 G3 on Windows 2003
You have downloaded the driver from the link
http://www.broadcom.com/drivers/downloaddrivers.php
have you tried deleting the driver that is currently there, and then install the downloaded driver, manually??
Also have you configured any Nic Teaming on the server or do you have that software installed on the server ???
cheers,
Akarsh S

http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtreme_server.php
Select the Appropriate OS.
This is the only direct way available. Try Saving the driver & not running it directly.
& this will Work for sure.

James.

Re: problem NIC DL140 G3 on Windows 2003
what I see in Quickspecs is that this card is not supported in the server. So it is normally, that it is not recognized.
The firmware of the server can't communicate with the NIC, new System ROM maybe can make the NIC supported, but for now, I don't think you can do it, or if you do it , other problems can occur(like warnings in system log and so on...).

Pac

Re: problem NIC DL140 G3 on Windows 2003
Yes indeed the Server's QuickSpecs Does not mention this NIC card.
However, it would be interesting for you to know that DL140 Server are SHIPPED with these NIC cards.
It is Compatible; Only issue being the drivers has to be downloaded from Broadcom's website.
If I recall, this will be the 35-40th situation that im encountering with the SAME drivers;
Regards,
James.
