Re: problem with my Compaq ProLiant 3000

Sounds to me like your Smart Array Controller batteries are failing. You should have them replaced if possible.

What controller do you have?
Enjoy!

Re: problem with my Compaq ProLiant 3000

Hmm... Voltage... I don't think you can run to your local Radio Shack or electronics store and get these... LOL

What SmartArray Controller do you have installed in your server?
With the model number, I can tell you if and how to replace them as well as what part number to get.

Let me know?
Enjoy!

Re: problem with my Compaq ProLiant 3000

Of course, I know that, but I need to know the correct voltage of the batteries to check it and be sure that this is the problem.

I'm not sure but I think that this is the model number of the Array Controller: 295244-001

Thanks.

Re: problem with my Compaq ProLiant 3000

Enrique:

You have a Smart-2DH Controller. ( ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/user_reference_guides/295469-002.pdf ) This controller is easily 5 to 6 years old. Compaq/HP has recommended replacing Array Controller bateries after 3 years of service.

Initally Error 1775 and Error 1785 would be displayed if you have moved the controller to a new PCI slot or that you have disconnected or have a loose SCSI cable. Alternatively, these errors could be from a power problem on the internal drive cage in the 3000 or any storageworks enclosures you have the Smart-2DH connected to. If you have checked the cables and power connectors and all is well then you have a bigger pictuire to look at.

Error 1729 states that the array (RAID 5 consistancy calibration) See the link below:
http://wwss1pro.compaq.com/support/reference_library/viewdocument.asp?source=EX981005_CW01.xml&dt=3

You can ignore this error for the most part, but, coupled with the other two errors is why I think your controller needs a battery replacement.

As far as the voltage of the batery pack and what tests you could do to determine the charge, I do not have access to that info. Compaq/HP really does not release that detailed of specification on their products. I am sure there are internal engineering documents that this could be found; but for the customers (folks like us), they just release "advisories" and hope we read them.
Enjoy!

Enriqe:

You will need a diskette built from this:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/14694.html
You need to build disk number 1 for the 2DH
Hope this helps you! -john
