proliant 5500 4 x xeon 500 P12 U320 array question

hello
i would like to upgrade to an ultra-3 or better 320 array: is it suported by this proliant 5500 4 x xeon 500? wich array should i look for? does the backplane supports ultra 3 or 320?

The backplane only supports U3 in that model.

is it possible to chenge the controller without reinstalling windows?
OS is installed on a mirrored logical drive.

is smart array 5302 compatible with proliant 5500?

Yes it's possible to change the controller without reinstalling the OS - Compaq Hardware is very smart that way - I've done it many times on my 5000 without problems.

On the controller front if you mean SCSI-3 (Ultra Wide) stick with a 3200.. if you mean Ultra3, not sure... am not sure the hardware can support (and I'm only experienced with the former...)

I mean Ultra3 160mb/s.

I saw smart array 5300 series cah handle 64 bit pci, i'm not sure if backwards compatible with 32 bit pci.
