proliant 5500 redundant fans

hello,
sorry for posting again but i didn't manage to reduce fan speed.

I don't have redundant fans: do you think that's why they run at max speed?

health agents are running: i can see the 2 fans are spinning and some temps.

thanks

Re: proliant 5500 redundant fans

The Proliant 5500 doesn't have speed adjustable fans. They always run at their top speed (not really that loud, compared to a DL380 G3 with full speed fans).
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: proliant 5500 redundant fans

I found a patch that says:

Fixes

Modified the variable fan speed control to make the fan correctly decrease in speed as the system temperature decreases

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/10094.html

it seems possible to reduce!

what do you think about?

thanks

The same driver is used on other machines with fans which can be slowed down. None of the servers from the time frame the Proliant 5500 was released have variable speed fans.
