Hi.

Are you using the onboard RAID controller?

If you are then it should be supported. See the following link:

Do you have the latest release of the RHEL 4? I'm not sure when the RHEL started supporting the P400 and E200 SAS controllers but if I remember correctly it was only from release 4.

Re: proliant DL 380G5 and Redhat Linux Enterprise 4 probelm?

yesterday i faced the same problem with another server and and another conroller:
ML370 G2 with smart array controller 5i.
and today with another server ML370 G5 with raid controller P400.

yesterday i tried to install the Redhat Linux Enterprise 3 and it worked fine.

so the problem may be with the Redhat Linux Enterprise 4.

why when i boot from the smart start i did not find the liux one of the options???

Hi.

As I said previously there are a number of updates made to the various Red Hat versions. RHEL 3 had at least 9 updates and RHEL 4 has 5 so far. Each update adds additional support for various devices. You have to make sure that the release you are using has support for the devices you have. Since these HP servers are relatively new support for them will only appear in later releases.

As far as the Smart Start CD is concerned I cannot help you, I never use them.

Re: proliant DL 380G5 and Redhat Linux Enterprise 4 probelm?

Hello!

Smartstart and RHEL4:

The correct way to install Linux with PSP is

1) Install Linux without smartstart CD. Of course, you can use RAID driver images made from the CD. A better way is to use updated distro of RHEL4, as Andrey wrote above. Updates 4 and 5 works fine

2) When Linux was installed, at first boot it runs a master to make some final adjustments. At last step this master asks you for some addidional CD's you want to install. Please insert Smartstart CD, and the PSP will be installed
