Re: proliant dl320s hard disk question

hi Marco Astegiano

yes you can do it no problem at all

you just create the RAID 5 using Hard drives(HDDs) of the same size or create another RAID level.

yes you can have HDDs with different size while they are compatible with the server you're buying

for example Dl320 g5

Re: proliant dl320s hard disk question

Hi Marco & Karlo,

Please Clearify how are going to install these hdd ?
The DL320 is a 1U Server, It can support only Two HDD,& for the SAS HDD a supported controller needs to be installed, Check the link :
Maximum Internal Storage Type
SATA 1.5TB 2 x 750GB SATA
SAS 600GB 2 x 300GB SAS

Re: proliant dl320s hard disk question

The DL360 G5 will support 6 drives SAS or SATA. The DL380 G5 will handle 8 drives SAS or SATA.

The G4 versions of these servers handled 2 drives and 6 drives SCSI or SATA.

There is a model of the DL320 that will handle 14 drives. It is the 415900. It holds 12 in front and you can add a back bay for 2 more.
