proliant dl380 G3 processor issue

Hello all,

I have a question regarding a dl380 that came configured with dual p4 xeon 3GHz processors. My company will be hosting an application on these servers but they want to remove a processor after the OS (Windows 2000 server) is installed...don't ask why. Anyway, I started this process but when I removed a processor from slot 2 the server won't make it to a startup screen. Any help or steps I need to take to make this happen will be greatly appreciated.

did you remove the little thingy beside the processor socket ? it looks like a small ram module with a heatsink.

Thank you Oliver...you are exactly correct. I did have to call HP support for this issue and they resolved the issue for me but you were right on the money with your answer. Thank you and have a nice day.
