proliant drives

Hi

I bought a 6400r without any drives and was wondering if I would be able to use standard 80 pin SCA drives (non HP Compaq) if I can source the cages?

Regards
Richard

Re: proliant drives

I am pretty sure that is what the "compaq" drives are anyway. 80pin SCA drives sitting at the edge of a drive tray.

I could be wrong, but they look like 80pin SCA's.

Re: proliant drives

I read somewhere that Compaq had a little bit of code added to the drives to allow things like LED lights being activated when the drive fails for instance...as well as better burn in testing, or something like that, can anyone confirm?
