proliant g6 ml370 add second processor os: win2008std
Hi, we have to add a second processor on a working system with Winserver2008 std. with one processor the sistem works fine, when we add the second one, the system crash during boot and doesn't boot (blue screen of death). Question: do have to reinstall all os with 2 processor already onboard or is there a procedure to add the second one?
Thank you.
Marco

Re: proliant g6 ml370 add second processor os: win2008std
The OS will have multiprocessor support allready as the current processor will have multicore.
You may check if the processors are identical.
Not just speed, but cache-size, stepping, etc.
Look at the intel-processor number.
Also you may need to reconfigure memory banks when adding a second processor?

Processor is identical. We have ordered a machine with two processors but our provider sent us the second processor one month later when we already had installed os winserver 2008 std.
It seems this is not a plug and play procedure. Any suggestions?
