raid setup bootable flags greyed

Trying to install windows sbs 2k3 on a proliant ml 115 g5, used nlite to create a disk with the RAID_10.3.54.10_S2K3_32 incorporated onto it. When I go into the array in bios, the bootable flags are greyed out - after running the first part of install, on reboot the install process hangs. All this is after running the install (successfully)on one of the (mirrored) drives with raid disabled. I formatted the second drive during the install process with raid disabled. The installation documentation says you can do it either way round. Any ideas of how to proceed? Thanks

Re: raid setup bootable flags greyed

any reason you are not using the eay setup cd

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3683706&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3683705&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1005

my option is to disable raid install on 1 disk then in windows add raid driver in dev manager add ..new devices.... and add driver , then clisk restart catch it in booot and enable raid in bios
straight forward ,,

Re: raid setup bootable flags greyed

Easy setup cd? yeah, turn on RAID and there's a big red message that says "The primary controller configured in your system is not supported by this version of HP proliant Easy Setup CD." which doesn't exactly inspire confidence...

I have installed sbs2k3 twice with RAID off. Then when I turn it on it won't boot. The instructions on the .docx telling you how to do a post-install raid configuration assume windows will boot and load 'scsi' raid drivers. It would be great to get that far frankly.

Re: raid setup bootable flags greyed

if you follow the steps above in that order it will work done it many times add driver before reboot...then stop post and enable raid..

Re: raid setup bootable flags greyed

Thanks for your help Mark Do I just need to disable raid, or do I have to delete it and hose the mbr? I'm not sure whether u are suggesting I use the easy setup cd but you are obviously convinced the machine will be compatible with the software I'm planning on using. Thanks again

Re: raid setup bootable flags greyed

disable in bios install on 1 drive only,

then add raid driver in dev manager add new devices , then raid controler provide driver , now we have windows waiting with raid driver but no raid

so we hit restart , on boot we go into bios and enable raid , now windows see bothdrives as it has driver waiting voila,,,

now hint

Re: raid setup bootable flags greyed

Hi there, Mark, Katie, actually I have to wait to get the sbs2k3 media from microsoft. I disabled raid and went through the easy setup cd as far as entering the licence key - it does look like a good way to run the install process. Have discovered the key isn't on the ms open licence website so won't be proceeding possibly until the new year when the media arrives. One question, is RAID_10.3.54.10_S2K332 the correct version of the RAID software to install? thanks
