Re: raid support or not

In your case you cannot configure a hardware RAID.

Re: raid support or not

You need to order Smart Array Controller in order to create RAID.

Re: raid support or not

DL380 G4 comes with one from list:

- SAS (Serial attached SCSI) models include the HP Smart Array P600/256 BBWC Controller.

- SCSI models include the integrated Smart Array 6i Ultra320 Array Controller with optional 128MB of Battery Backed Write Cache.

6i controller supports:
- RAID 5 (Distributed Data Guarding)
- RAID 1+0 (Striping and Mirroring)
- RAID 1 (Mirroring)
- RAID 0 (Stripping)

P600 controller supports:
- RAID 6 (Advanced Data Guarding)
- RAID 5 (Distributed Data Guarding)
- RAID 1+0 (Striping & Mirroring)
- RAID 0 (Striping)

Check model of your server

Re: raid support or not

Server will be shipped with one of these controllers.

Smart Array 6i Controller - is integrated in motherboard

HP Smart Array P600 Controller - is the 64-bit, PCIX 133-MHz Card (should be added in the order)

Re: raid support or not

Well, To be honest you cannot do that.

The only RAID level you can run with this configurations is RAID 0 also known as JBOD (Just a Bounch of Disks), and as it name says is just some disks and the System (OS) will recongnize them alll of them but as a different letter as logical each one.

I recommend you to get a Smart Array controller, HP also has a very cheap ones.

Thanks
