repeated hard drive failure on ML530

ML530 4 18.2GB drives in raid 5 with smartarray 431 controller. In past year, had 14 drive failures reported in Bay1 ID0 or Bay2 ID1. Reseat drive and rebuilds but in about 2 months fails again. FAilure time is down to about 1 week now. Replaces hard drive several times in beginning the recently array controller and backplane. Today drive shows failed again. Something else is the issue. I tried to run Insight diags but it showed no controller to diagnose. Next step will be to try replacing systemboard. Does anyone have any other ideas or diagnostic tools to use?

Re: repeated hard drive failure on ML530

I would submit that it is a data problem and not a drive at all. A bad piece of data can cause a drive failure warning
